How People See Your Website [Infographic]

I’ve been working for months on a major upgrade with an e-commerce company. It’s exciting to see a fresh new look emerge out of an antiquated website. It’s no surprise that 46.1% of people say a website’s design is the number one criterion for discerning the credibility of the company. (Source: HubSpot Marketing Blog)

Another startling statistic is, “90% of information transmitted to the brain is visual, and visuals are processed 60,000X faster in the brain than text.” Though I had trouble tracking down the original science behind this statement, it is indisputable that images are processed much faster than words. Since people skim websites (as evidenced in the infographic below), it is vital to optimize the value of visual appeal.

The brilliant web developer I teamed with on this project absolutely insisted on a responsive site. This feature allow a website to display correctly on any size device, including a smartphone. 67% of online visitors are likely to make purchases from a mobile device. Ignore these facts at your peril.
