It’s no secret, Social Media Marketing has changed the way businesses communicate with consumers and with one another.
It’s said we are no longer in the age of B2C (Business to customer) or B2B (Business to Business) but what counts is it’s all P2P. (People to People)
Just this week,I observed the power of social media to improve customer service. A friend had some astonishingly poor service from an Air Conditioning Repair company and made it know on Twitter and Yelp. By the end of the business day, she heard from a repentant business owner wanting to make amends. How do we know it was social media that influenced his change of heart? When he returned and made it right, he asked if she would please remove the negative reviews. That’s “power of the people” at work.
Social Media Examiner’s 2014 Social Media Marketing Industry Report is actually fascinating. Admittedly, I may be a little biased on this subject. But I’m in good company, as a full 92% of marketers say their social media efforts have generated more exposure for their business. Check out this infographic on what’s hot in social media.

Hi Beverly,
68% increase in business blogging is a massive number. My worry has always been around the quality and consistence of content. It is very easy to agree to deliver this on a regular basis, it is another thing altogether to actually get it completed.
It’s far better to deliver 1 really good piece every month than to start strong and fade away.
Do you tend to work to a content calendar or are you more ad-hoc in your process?
Thanks, Elliott for your thoughtful remarks. I agree that consistency AND quality are both important in blogging. I rather like shorter blog posts on a more frequent (at least once a week) basis, than one work of art once a month.
I usually set up a loose content calendar and leave lots of room for creativity. I like to go with the brainstorms when they come.
